Running has never been so popular but as the sport grows, so does the divide.
Fast vs slow. Sprinters vs distance junkies. Elites vs everyday joggers. Forget all that.
Backyard Ultra blows the finish line wide open.
One loop. One hour. Repeat.
Whether you smash out a single lap and call it your first-ever ‘race’
or you’re still grinding 30+ hours later, this event’s built different.
We’re here to tear down the barriers, cheer on every runner and create a space where showing up matters more than showing off.
Cornwall’s first Backyard Ultra isn’t just a race.
It’s a community. A personal test. A party.
And everyone’s invited.

NOT JUST A RUN
At many races it’s a case of running and going home.
We want everyone to be encouraged to stay until the final lap. Run then relax and connect with your fellow runners. This is a weekend event rather than a Saturday morning race before your weekend starts.
Camping available onsite
Over 18s to run laps please.
The Route
The route is made up of one small lap anti-clockwise and a bigger lap clockwise which takes in the beautiful views of Bedruthan Steps.
The red dot on the map here shows where you will enter the Race HQ field. The distance on the GPX below is slightly shorter as the lap will finish when you cross the line back into the corral within the field.
PLEASE NOTE SOME OF THE ROUTE IS ON A PRIVATE FARM TRACK SO IF YOU DO ANY RECCE RUNS PLEASE STAY ON THE FOOTPATH AND RESPECTFULLY FOLLOW THE APPROPRIATE SIGNAGE

The Inclusive Ultra
Our mission is to make everyone feel they can enter and run the Cornwall’s Backyard Ultra. Whether you plan to run 1 lap, 7 laps to complete an ultra marathon or stick it out until the end. Everyone will be treated, supported and welcome in the same way.
We would love to encourage teams, run clubs, friends and families to come and run together, support each other and be in it together. With camping on site available until the last lap is completed we would love for people to think of it as a weekend away with a run at the centre.
Will you be part of Cornwall’s first Backyard Ultra?
